Turbine
Szabi Nagy is co-founder & CEO of Turbine and has spent a decade making AI-powered virtual cells useful for biopharma decision making.
He launched Turbine in 2015 to address a core constraint in drug discovery: lab models can’t match the complexity of human biology, so research gets narrowed to what a lab can feasibly test. Turbine’s Virtual Lab (vLab®) has enabled scientists at AstraZeneca, Merck, Daiichi Sankyo & Bayer to screen millions of hypotheses, identify the right experiments for wet-lab testing and make critical decisions earlier, from target discovery through preclinical studies.
Szabi has raised €60M from Accel, Merck Global Health Innovation, MassMutual Ventures & Beiersdorf, growing Turbine from a bootstrapped startup to a team of 100 ML researchers & biologists.
A serial entrepreneur, he helped launch Tresorit, a cybersecurity startup that was later acquired, while studying economics at Corvinus University of Budapest. Today he works with governments, VCs & universities to help academic founders build deep tech companies across Central & Eastern Europe through programs like the Frontier Fellowship.
