Matt Hefner

Matt Hefner is the Global Head of Business Development at Kyowa Kirin, where he oversees business development strategy, transactions, alliance management, corporate venture capital, and external innovation activities supporting the company’s global pipeline and portfolio.

Matt has more than 25 years of biopharmaceutical industry experience across business development, corporate strategy, and transformation, and has been involved in BD transactions totaling ~$250B. Prior to joining Kyowa Kirin, he was a member of Pfizer’s Worldwide Business Development leadership team, where he led the structuring, planning, and execution of global M&A transactions as well as licensing and collaboration programs across multiple therapeutic areas. Previously, he held senior leadership roles at Allergan, now AbbVie, focused on business development, partnering, and strategic transformation.

Earlier in his career, Matt was a Life Sciences strategy consultant with Deloitte and held engineering and program management roles at Johnson & Johnson, GM, IBM, and Lockheed Martin. He holds an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business and a BS and MEng in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University.
